5. Chopped Or Strangled
You are walking the streets at night when you come across a clown. He tells you the following riddle:
“If you tell the truth, I will strangle you.
If you tell a lie, I will chop of your head.”
How do you get out of this situation?
Answer: You have to say to the clown either: “You will chop off my head” or “You will strangle me.” For example, by saying: “You will chop off my head” means that the clown would say that is false. Therefore, the clown will chop off your head but by doing so means the statement is now true, so the clown will have to strangle you. But by strangling you now makes the original statement false, leaving you go free.
4. Dinner For Two
Clown 1 was invited to dinner at clown 2’s house. The strange thing is that clown 2 recently got involved in some weird religious cult. While clown 1 was at the dinner table, clown 2 served clown 1 with some meat but wouldn’t tell clown 1 what kind of meat it was. Clown 1 wondered for a second whether it was human meat but then after he ate it, he knew it wasn’t human meat. How did clown 1 know this?
Answer: Clown 1 is a cannibal. How else would he have known it wasn’t human meat if he’d never had human meat to begin with?
3. Three Rooms
A clown is condemned to death for multiple counts of murder. He must choose between three different rooms:
The first is a room full of raging fires.
The second is a room covered in spikes.
The third is a room full of lions who haven’t eaten in years.
Which room is the safest?
Answer: The third room full of lions is the safest room because all the lions would be dead since they haven’t eaten for years.
2. Iced Tea
After performing for several hours at a children’s birthday party, two clowns decide to get something to drink. They both order iced tea. One clown drank their iced tea very fast and finished three in the time it took the other to drink just one. However, the clown who drank one died whilst the one who drank three survived. All the drinks were poisoned. How did the clown who drank the most survive?
Answer: The poison was in the ice. The clown who drank all of his iced teas very fast would not have ingested the poison as the poison would not yet have dissolved in any of his drinks whereas the clown who drank one iced tea would have ingested the poison as the ice would have melted by then and dissolved in his drink.
1. Murder In His Sleep
A clown decides to go to sleep after he is exhausted from a long day performing in the circus. He turns off all the lights and goes to sleep. When he wakes up, he finds out that he has killed 365 people. He does not sleep-walk and has slept all night without waking up once. How is this possible?
Answer: The clown lives in a lighthouse. By turning off the lights meant that the boats out at sea crashed, killing a total of 365 people.
